Refractive-lensectomy-appointment

If your farsightedness is too severe for LASIK or PRK / ASA, refractive lensectomy may allow you to enjoy independence from glasses and contacts. This simple outpatient surgery uses the same technique as cataract surgery to replace your eye's natural lens with an artificial premium intraocular lens (IOL) implant designed to correct your vision. Refractive lensectomy eliminates your need to ever have cataract surgery in the future.

Consult the doctors at Eye Surgical Associates to discuss your vision needs and whether refractive lensectomy is right for you. With 70 years of combined surgical experience, our doctors use the most advanced technology to correct your vision while ensuring your complete comfort. We'll help you gain independence from glasses and contacts by selecting the best premium IOL for your vision impairment, including:

  • Astigmatism in combination with either nearsightedness or farsightedness
  • Presbyopia, or the inability to focus on close objects — as in people who otherwise need bifocals or reading glasses

About the Surgery

During refractive lensectomy, the surgeon numbs the eye and removes the natural lens through a microscopic incision. The IOL is then inserted through the same incision. If you suffer from astigmatism, your surgeon may also make microscopic incisions on your cornea to reduce this common problem.
